Kaimuki High School

Kaimukī High School (KHS) is a WASC-accredited comprehensive public high school located in Honolulu’s east urban area. Comprised of apartment buildings, high-rise condominiums, small businesses, older residential neighborhoods, and community parks, the school boundaries include the communities of Kaimukī, Kapahulu, Moiliili, McCully, Palolo Valley, St. Louis Heights, and Waikiki. The 35-acre school campus includes eight major classroom buildings, an administration and library building, an auditorium, and a cafeteria. Separate structures on campus include facilities for industrial arts, music, JROTC, and physical education. Athletic facilities include a 50-meter Olympic-size swimming pool, a gymnasium, basketball courts, tennis courts, and softball, soccer, baseball, football and track fields. 

 

Career Pathway courses and Early College (EC) create the foundation for the faculty and staff to build student-centered learning. This environment promotes 21st century skills for college, career, and life readiness. KHS’s student-centered learning encourages student agency which impacts student executive function, self-regulation, perseverance, and connects the learning to real world experiences. KHS has established the following pathways: Building and Construction, Culinary Arts, Hotel Operations, Health, Engineering, and Film and Media Production. 

Our on-campus EC programs, Kaimukī to College (K2C), provides all KHS students, particularly disadvantaged students, with equitable access to college courses and are provided the necessary support to help ensure success. KHS students have the option of taking EC courses off campus at Kapiolani Community College and/or the University of Hawaii at Manoa. 

KHS is also one of two high school performing arts centers on Oahu and features a state-of-the-art LED lighting system, sound system, and scene shop. Classes are taught by professionals in the fi eld. The pride of Kaimuki High School’s ohana is reflected in our motto, “Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog”.
