Name(s) of your partner(s):    Windward Community College

Name of your project:    Meal with a Mission NWAM

Briefly describe the status of your project (one paragraph).
The project was a complete success.  The Castle High School students were able to raise $100.00 to give to Meals with a Mission.  The students were exposed to working with a business partner and gained insight into the planning, developing, executing, and finally the completion stages of taking an idea from conception to fruition.

List down at least three successes (what worked well).
Aloha to all!
I would like to send A HUGE mahalo to all the students that contributed to this project!
4 Seniors began the cookie art project in September with Chef Dan Swift at WCC. Mr. Swift met with the seniors and talked about art techniques in cookie decorating.  Students experimented with splattering, piping, airbrush and stencils.  Students begin generating ideas for a “cookie kit” and how to combine with an art school project.  Some ideas were for NAMI, National Alliance for Mental Health with affirmations, , HERO cookies (CHS school rewards program) and various Castle Knights themes.  The Geer grant then led the team to focus on a non profit organization that Chef Dan runs, Meals with a Mission   MWAM provides meals to College students at WCC with food insecurities. Every drawing and painting student at CHS created  a MWAM logo.  Chef Dan chose the winning design.  We were able to acquire an edible ink printer to print logos with edible wafer paper.  We made food coloring kits with M & Ms and paint brushes.  The kit also included a QR code with MWAM info, how to mix colors and info to Instagram to promote more awareness to Meals with a Mission!  CHS students made tiny palettes for coloring mixing.  The student went to WCC to arrange the cookies kits and raised over 100.00 to give to Meals with Mission!

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:  (OPTIONAL)

We were able to have Castle High School and Kapolei High School share their projects.  Unfortunately, Kohala High School was not able to join us.  Both schools were able to present their work and found that both had similar non-profits in common.  All the students showed great poise and promise in their enthusiasm and dedication.
