PART I:  PROJECT WITH SMALL BUSINESS OR NON-PROFIT IN THE COMMUNITY
Name of your project: Wednesday Night Market, Kohala Village HUB Name(s) of your partner(s):

Briefly describe the major project (one paragraph):

Students in the Natural Resource Food Production pathway planted, harvested, and processed produce from the school’s hydroponic system. They participated at the Wednesday night market as a vendor supporting the “farm to table sustainable” efforts. Students helped to advertise the market, helped spread the word within our community about the market and drew a larger crowd by showcasing their produce from Kohala High School - Academy of Sustainability’s Honomaka’u Farm.

List at least three things that went well:
  1. Exposure and Experience - students meet a wide range of people at the Wednesday Night Markets, from Councilman Richards, Congressman Kahele, Kohala High School Alumni, Local Small Business Owners, and more.
  2. Revival - The Future Farmers of America (FFA) program is rebuilding, reviving, and off to a great start. With at least 20 students active in the program this year and FFA officers in positions of leadership
  3. Partnership - Because we live in a rural area on our island with our population at 7,000, partnership and collaboration to support one another is very important. Since this partnership, it has opened more doors, blessings, and opportunities for our students, school, and partners.

List two or three challenges:
  1. Small numbers - because our enrollment of 270 students is smaller than other schools, our students are involved in numerous clubs, committees, and activities, causing meetings, planning, and coordinating events and activities a little difficult.
What was a lesson(s) learned?  (one paragraph)

Clubs, partnerships, committees, events, and activities can be done with the proper advisors in charge, willing to go above and beyond to provide opportunities in our school and around our community for our students.

PART 2: EARLY COLLEGE
Students Enrolled in GEER Sponsored Early College Courses: No

Reason:
There were many reasons our student weren’t able to enroll;
  • The chromebooks provided weren’t compatible
  • There was a miscommunication to when/where in their schedule they’d be all together to work
  • We didn’t have a designated Teacher in-person to assist.
