Waipahu High School’s vision is to provide student-centered educational programs that challenge all students to perform at their highest potential

Waipahu High School prepares students for success in the 21st century by engaging them in rigorous and relevant learning opportunities that promote academic, physical, and emotional growth.
Waipahu High School (WHS) serves families living in a six square mile region bounded by Kamehameha Highway, West Loch, Kunia Road, Village Park Subdivision, and the H-1. Neighborhoods include Waipahu, Waikele, Robinson Heights, Royal Kunia, and Village Park. The economic level of families ranges from low to moderately high income. The student population is primarily Filipino followed by Native Hawaiian, Samoan, Micronesian, and other ethnicities. In Spring 2018, WHS received a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Six-Year Accreditation Term with a Mid-Cycle Progress Report.
As a college and nationally recognized wall-to-wall model career academy high school, we are committed to developing caring, committed, and resilient students who are prepared for Hawaii's high skill, high wage, in-demand, and future focused workforce. Together with our industry, post-secondary, and community partners, we’re focused on providing successful and seamless transitions between Waipahu High School, college, and successful careers through an array of dual-credit, industry-recognized credentialing, and work-based learning opportunities. Our student-centered motto is: My Voice · My Choice · My Future.
Students at Waipahu High School enroll in one of six nationally certified model academies or model academies with distinction: Arts & Communication, Health & Sciences, Industrial & Engineering Technology, Natural Resources, Ohana of Excellence and Professional and Public Services. The ‘Ohana of Excellence Academy is the only nationally certified academy that supports students with varying degrees of significant disabilities. Students in each academy are supported by teams of committed teachers; counselors; an academy principal; and post-secondary, industry, and community partners. Waipahu High School offers nineteen different programs of study and twenty-five industry-recognized credentials within academy curricula that’s aligned to rigorous industry standards.
As a result of the generous support of over $2.3 million dollars from the McInerny Foundation, Waipahu High School also features a robust Early College program aligned with our career academies. Our students also have many opportunities to participate in academic and co-curricular programs including athletics, student councils, academically and service-focused organizations, and culturally-based student activities. There are 56 sports teams, 44 clubs, 4 grade level councils, and Student Government that help to develop student leadership skills, esprit de corps, and positive and lasting friendships. This is but a glimpse into the exciting and innovative happenings at Waipahu High School.
